Neelam Mathews Singapore signs up for space-based ADS-B data  Feb 24 2016  Aireon is to supply space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B)  data for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore  (CAAS) under a deal signed on on 18  February during the  Singapore  Airshow. The CAAS signed a 12-year contract to purchase the service,  beginning in 2018.  This is the first data services agreement for the Aireon service in the  Asia-Pacific region. In order to improve air traffic controller situational awareness, Aireon will provide data  for the entire  Singapore  Flight Information Region (FIR) by supplementing  existing surveillance sensors used by the CAAS. Southeast Asia’s aviation landscape has undergone a substantial change and transformation with the rise of budget carriers, which now comprise 50 percent of the market. “Low-cost airlines have brought air travel to secondary airports, [with] a focus on short-haul travel, and are code-sharing with legacy carriers. Neelam Mathews Dec 14, 2012 The increasing presence of ATR -600 operators in Asia and the Pacific underpins the need for a new Training Center in Singapore that has been inaugurated both for commercial aircraft pilots and maintenance crew. It is located in the Seletar Aerospace Park, a major hub for the Singapore aerospace industry.  The new center has the capacity to train more than 600 pilots and maintenance crew per year. The facility features the new Full Flight Simulator (FFS), an integrated suite of flight training devices and advanced classroom settings to provide both pilot and maintenance training for multiple ATR aircraft platforms. The new FFS enables training for both ATR 42-600s and ATR 72-600s variants. Posted by- Neelam Mathews Dec 6, 2012 Pratt & Whitney announced its Singapore engine center celebrated more than 30 years of operations with the milestone delivery of its 7000th overhauled engine.  Since beginning operation, the Singapore engine center has delivered 3,730 PW4000 series of engines (that power Airbus A300, A310 and A330 aircraft family as well as Boeing 747, 767, 777 and MD11 aircraft), 174 CFM56 engines (that power Airbus A340 aircraft), 47 GE90 engines (that power Boeing 777 aircraft) and 3,049 JT9D series of engines (that power Boeing 747-100 aircraft).  A joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and SIA Engineering Co., the engine center also recently surpassed the US-billion-dollar revenue mark. Neelam Mathews Nov 22, 2012 ATR's newest flight training center in Singapore is now officially approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and is ready to start training courses shortly. The center will provide a high level of training programs from flight crew type rating through recurrent training to differences courses. Strategically located in the Seletar Aerospace Park, a major hub for the Singapore aerospace industry, the center will officially be inaugurated mid-December this year. The EASA certification of the new ATR Training Center in Singapore gives way to a long term operational approval of the flight training equipment. It covers the Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for ATR -600 series, the maintenance/flight simulation training devices (MFSTD) and a brief/debrief station.
