GMF AeroAsia gets more South Asian business Neelam Mathews Nov 12, 2012   Even as India’s MRO lanquishes due to government apathy on taxes, GMF AeroAsia, a subsidiary of Indonesian national flag carrier Garuda, has said its revenue will rise 30 percent in 2013, after it secured several aircraft maintenance contracts.   This includes India’s Jet Airways. T he company will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services [MRO] to Zimbabwe’s Avient Aviation, Afghanistan’s KAM Air, Jet Airways and domestic low cost carrier Mandala Airlines starting next year, GMF executive vice president for base operations Agus Sulistyono said. Neelam Mathews Aug 7, 2012   AirAsia Asean, the regional base of AirAsia, was officially launched in Jakarta today. The launch coincides with the eve of the 45 th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). AirAsia Asean was set up as part of the regional expansion strategy of the group, which now includes six airlines, five of which are anchored in Asean: the short-haul carriers AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines and AirAsia Japan, and the long-haul carrier AirAsia X. Posted by Neelam Mathews Sept 14, 2011 Singapore Airlines Cargo has added Jakarta to its freighter network and increased its weekly frequencies to Auckland, Shanghai, Sydney and Xiamen. The new freighter service will be increased to twice weekly from Northern Winter 2011. The freighter service to Jakarta complements the belly-hold space available on Singapore Airlines’ 49 weekly passenger flights between Singapore and Jakarta. From 15 September, this will be increased to 56 flights per week. Indonesia is a major exporter of garments, footwear, food products, machinery and electronic devices between Jakarta, Singapore and the rest of the world. The additional freight capacity will provide shippers more choices and faster movement of their cargo to markets around the world. Posted by- Neelam Mathews July 25, 2011 Singapore Airlines will boost capacity on the Singapore–Jakarta route to meet increased demand, with the introduction of an eighth daily service from 15 September 2011   While international double dailies  have yet to become a norm in India, liberalized Singapore now has national carrier introducing its eight daily to Jakarta. This also implies the grwth in leisure, business and onward traffic between the two destinations. The enhanced schedule offers customers more flights to choose from, in turn providing more connection choices in Singapore or beyond Jakarta to Indonesian domestic flights. The additional service will be operated by 288-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft in a three-class configuration, says SIA. With the additional daily flight, Singapore Airlines will operate a total of 77 weekly flights to Indonesia, including 21 weekly flights to the holiday island of Bali.
