Neelam Mathews Sept 19, 2012 Honeywell and Airports Authority of India have signed an agreement under the US-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) to set up a Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) system at the Delhi International Airport. It will be launched on Oct 9, Aerospace Diary learns. Honeywell is also expected to demonstrate its SmartRunway and SmartLanding products that increase flight safety by improving situational awareness for pilots and crew during approach, landing, taxi and take-off. USTDA, had last year concluded an agreement for $407,325 to support AAI’s efforts to install and commission a pilot GBAS at Chennai International Airport. The location was recently changed to Delhi. Neelam Mathews Sept 18, 2012 Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana airlines has selected a number of Rockwell Collins’ advanced avionics, including its GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), for six new Airbus A320/321 aircraft. Deliveries of Air Astana’s new Airbus fleet are expected to begin in November. Rockwell Collins' GLU-925 MMR enables airlines and operators to take advantage of evolving Required Navigation Performance (RNP)/Area Navigation (RNAV) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities. The MMR fulfills the requirements for aircraft navigation position source, Category III Instrument Landing System (ILS), Category I Global Positioning Landing System (GLS), accessing RNP/RNAV airspace (down to RNP Authorization Required 0.1), and it meets the GPS position and availability requirements for ADS-B Out mandates.
