India gets new CNS
Neelam Mathews Aug 31, 2012 Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi has taken over from Admiral Nirmal Verma as the 21 st Chief of Naval Staff of Independent India and the 19 th Indian to take command of the Indian Navy. On his priorities, Joshi said: “To achieve security related objectives, the man-machine interface is crucial and the Navy would need to professionally re-audit, train and consolidate its preparedness to optimize the existing capabilities as well as harness the full potential of the transformational new capabilities being inducted”. Joshi is a specialist in Anti-Submarine Warfare. In his service spanning nearly 38 years, he has served in Sea Commands including guided missile corvette INS Kuthar, guided missile destroyer INS Ranvir and the aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
