I recently paid triple almost (!) to KL during non-peak season.  Wonder if Delhi and Mumbai airports will take the bait and start doing some marketing to attract carriers into the country. At this rate, they might see what they call 'fledgling revenues' a boost!   Just a thought. India-Here I come, says Fernandes

Neelam Mathews Feb 21, 2013 Tony Fernandes will start filming the series of 'Apprentice' (Asia) (remember Donald Trump?) starting this monday, he told Aerospace Diary during a telephonic press conference a few minutes ago. "The response from India has been tremendous," said the low cost airline Asian tsar who added that the series would help in enhancing the AirAsia image in India. "But, lets not kid ourselves," the product needs to deliver what it promises, he added. On whether AirAsia was likely to put some airlines out of business, he said: "Businesses put themselves out of business provided they capitalize and have the right business model."

Emirates ups the antic in the Indian market

Neelam Mathews Feb 3, 2012 Emirates has announced a special sale offering 10% discount on airfares over 100 destinations across its network through travel agents. This offer is valid for bookings till February 4, 2012 for travel between February 2, 2012 and June 30, 2012. Under this offer, an Economy Class Return airfare from Delhi to Dubai will start at INR 17,812 inclusive of taxes (Fares to other destinations mentioned below)   “We are committed to the Indian Market and this is yet another initiative in this direction. Air India offers Date Range Fares for 141 destinations

Press Release Posted- Neelam Mathews April 21, 2011   Air India has introduced “ Date Range Fares ” effective April 20, 2011 to make air travel during the holiday season convenient, comfortable, easy and economical. “This initiative from the national carrier is aimed at increasing air travel on our flights during the summer holidays and improving the seat factor in the coming months”, said the Air India spokesperson.   The special fares are available on select 141 sectors on the domestic network from April 20, 2011.  Passengers can book their tickets 3 days or 5 days prior to their date of departure.  Under the D3 scheme , there should be a minimum of 3 days between the date of purchase and date of travel. If a passenger purchases the ticket on April 24, 2011, the travel should be on or after April 27, 2011. News AWIN First Dec 06 , 2010 Neelam Mathews NEW DELHI Domestic carriers in India are adamently opposed to the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s plan to take action against those increasing their fares to what it deems as unacceptable levels as traffic surges after two years of recession. The airlines say market forces should determine the fares. As a result of increases in passenger capacity, air fares surged with the start of the peak season last month. Not satisfied with the airlines’ responding to an inquiry on the upsurge in fares last month, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, following meetings with domestic airlines on Dec. 4 and 6, has told them to maintain transparency in tariffs.
