AAI to examine Aireon proposal

Neelam Mathews   IHS Jane's Airport Review Mar 12, 2015 The Aireon joint venture for space-based global air traffic surveillance has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on the potential deployment of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) services in Indian airspace. The MoU states that AAI will work with Aireon to develop applicable regulations, standards, and procedures for ADS-B; identify specific requirements for AAI's use of space-based ADS-B surveillance; and demonstrate how the use of ADS-B can improve aviation operations in Indian airspace. The Indian Space Research Organisation will assist the AAI in examining the feasibility of the Aireon solution. Air Astana aircraft to feature Rockwell Collins' Multi-Mode receivers

Neelam Mathews Sept 18, 2012 Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana airlines has selected a number of Rockwell Collins’ advanced avionics, including its GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), for six new Airbus A320/321 aircraft. Deliveries of Air Astana’s new Airbus fleet are expected to begin in November. Rockwell Collins' GLU-925 MMR enables airlines and operators to take advantage of evolving Required Navigation Performance (RNP)/Area Navigation (RNAV) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities. The MMR fulfills the requirements for aircraft navigation position source, Category III Instrument Landing System (ILS), Category I Global Positioning Landing System (GLS), accessing RNP/RNAV airspace (down to RNP Authorization Required 0.1), and it meets the GPS position and availability requirements for ADS-B Out mandates.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is pursuing an ITT system that would cover the entire subcontinent plus the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
