Asked about the move by P&W and MTU earlier this year to purchase Rolls-Royce’s share in the International Aero Engines, he replied, “The acquisition will simplify our global market strategy [to] align with our partners and…optimize deals for the A320.” This week Hess was named as board chairman of IAE . Embraer Defense and Security selects V2500-E5 for KC-390
Posted by- Neelam Mathews July 25, 2011 Embraer Defense and Security has selected the IAE's V2500-E5 engine to equip the KC-390 military transport jet. “The selection of IAE’s V2500-E5 brings about the merger of a well-known and proven engine with a winning clean-sheet design military program. It is very important for us to finish the selection of our main suppliers and partners, in order to begin working with them in this new phase,” said Luiz Carlos Aguiar, President, Embraer Defense and Security, in a statement. The first deliveries of the V2500-E5 engines for the KC-390 prototypes are scheduled for 2013, and the flight tests for 2014. GULF AIR SELECTS IAE
Posted by- Neelam Mathews Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has selected International Aero Engines AG to power six A321 aircraft, becoming the launch customer for IAE’s new V2500 SelectTwo engine. The extended-range Airbus platforms will be delivered in 2012, marking Gulf Air’s initial application of V2500 engines into its fleet. “We are pleased to be selected to provide Gulf Air with not only their first V2500 power-plants, but as the first customer to order our new SelectTwo offering,” said Ian Aitken, president of IAE. “I am confident they made the right decision based on performance, reliability and maintainability that the V2500 SelectTwo will provide for their fleet.” The value of the contract is approximately $180million. “The competitive fleet hourly offering from IAE and fuel burn advantage were key characteristics that assured us that the V2500 was the right engine for us,” said Samer Majali, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air. “Super...
