Neelam Mathews, Delhi   - IHS Jane's Airport Review 04 April 2016     The Mauritius-based subsidiaries of Fairfax India Holdings Corp and Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd will collectively acquire 33% of the equity of Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) from Bangalore Airport & Infrastructure Developers, a subsidiary of GVK Power and Infrastructure. The transaction is valued at approximately USD321 million, with completion expected by mid-2016. BIAL owns and operates the Kempegowda International in Bengaluru, the first airport in India to be built by a public-private partnership. Today, GVK Group is the largest shareholder in BIAL with a 43% stake, followed by Siemens Project Ventures (26%). Neelam Mathews Oct 14, 2015 Five bidders are in contention to build a new greenfield  airport  at  Mopa  in the Indian state of  Goa . Construction by a public-private partnership is planned to start in August 2016 and will be completed by 2019, Chief Minister of  Goa Laxmikant Yashwant Parsekar announced at an aviation summit held by technology provider SITA on 13 October. "We want  Goa  to be a hub for aviation," Parsekar said. " Mopa  will serve as an engine for growth for the economy of  Goa  state." Neelam Mathews   - IHS Jane's Airport Review 27 October 2014 Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) intends to introduce beacon geolocation technology at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. "We're at an advanced stage of implementation," MIAL CEO Rajeev Jain said on 16 October at the Aviation Information & Communication Technologies Forum in Jaipur. IHS Jane's understands that the Request for Qualification for a pilot project will be made in the first quarter of 2015. If successful, it will be replicated in the GVK consortium-owned Bangalore International Airport. Beacons can track passengers inside the airport within a radius of 50 m in real time. Neelam Mathews Nov 8, 2012 India’s leading airport infrastructure developer, GVK that manages and operates the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai and the Bengaluru International Airport has signed an operations and management contract with the Airports Authority of Indonesia, (Angkasa Pura Airports AP1), the Indonesian government airport operator to manage the non-aeronautical commercial operations at Indonesia’s second busiest Bali (Denpasar) International Airport. GVK is also developing an international greenfield airport in Yogyakarta in central Java in collaboration with the Government of Indonesia.  This follows the MoU that GVK had signed in January 2011 with the Government of Indonesia. The MoU for the Yogyakarta airport is an agreement between Angkasa Pura Airports (Government of Indonesia owned Airport Operations and Management Company) and GVKPIL.
