Fun in the Air- Is India far behind!?

Image
Neelam Mathews May 12, 2013 Branson spills coffee on Fernandes................pay back time! The ways to market an airline are getting innovative to the point of being funny, some would say, wierd. Since humor is not found as much in the domain of aviation - take this! Donning his famous beard  and sporting an AirAsia uniform, Sir Richard having lost a bet to Tony Fernandes 'served" as a flight attendant on an AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur from Perth International Airport early today. Credit-Getty Images Being poiltically incorrect, I was wondering how Rohit Nandan, Chairman of Air India would look donning an IndiGo uniform if he ever lost a bet to Aditya Ghosh! While there are mixed feelings on these antics, time somebody brought a smile to passengers. I can almost hear the opposition yelling on how this taints our culture. Guess we're cocky enough to think the other (countries) have none! Though personally I did feel the kissing competition on Scoo...

Opinion and ad - Richard Branson

Image
Neelam Mathews Jan 1, 2013 The people at  Virgin Atlantic  are what make it special. I'm proud of every single one of them. See how we are flying in the face of ordinary in our new ad above. Find out more about our  people, places, products, style and all the ways we are flying in the face of ordinary  over at Virgin Atlantic's website. 2012 has been a fantastic year, with a wonderful ending as we revealed new domestic flights in the UK and a  strategic partnership with Delta . Here's to 2013 being even better. By  Richard Branson . Founder of Virgin Group

Who said aviation Chiefs do not honor their bets or have a sense of humor?

Neelam Mathews Dec 20, 2012 Virgin Chief Richard Branson is a sport and even winner of the bet Tony Fernnades, acknowledges this. Branson, after losing a bet on F1, will wear a red skirt and serve as a stewardess on AirAsia in May. The two had agreed in 2010 that whichever of their teams (then Virgin and Lotus) finished lower in the constructors’ championship in their debut season, the losing owner would serve on the other’s airline. The tickets for the flight will be auctioned off for charity. Wouldn't we all love to be on that historical flight!

Why you should treat your company like family- Branson

Image
Richard Branson Many a Chairman will say he looks at his company like a family and then acts in a way which makes you glad you're not related! I have always pushed Virgin companies to walk the talk on that and ensure everybody feels part of the team.  Colleagues should take care of each other, have fun, celebrate success, learn by failure, look for reasons to praise not to criticise, communicate freely and respect each other. This is doubly important for the  Virgin Galactic team  in Mojave, where we are busy creating the world’s first commercial spaceline. The team spirit and sense of togetherness instilled in such a young, innovative group is really inspiring to see. My daughter  Holly and I visited Mojave  recently and, as well getting hands-on with the business of building spaceships, were able to spend time with some really inspiring people. Even in a space-age company aiming for the stars, it is your staff who are the key  to success. I...
