(Photo: Antonov) The Indian Air Force ( IAF ) will issue a request for proposal ( RFP ) next month for the overhaul of 20 Antonov An-32 airlifters to independent Indian maintenance repair and overhaul providers. The move follows  problems with an upgrade by the  OEM  in Ukraine, on the heels of deteriorating relations between that country and Russia. Meanwhile, a long-planned Indo-Russian project to eventually replace the  IAF ’s 105-strong fleet of An-32s has stalled. The former  IAF  maintenance commander Air Marshall P. Kanakraj set the scene for the  RFP  two years ago when he said, “We are expecting the  MRO  Industry to partner for reclamation, refurbishment and re-equipping of our aviation assets…both fighter and transport aircraft.”  AIN  ha...

Neelam Mathews Feb 14, 2013 Even as elections draw closer and the Minister of Civil Aviation talks of aggressive plans for regional connectivity, UAC Russia President Mikhail Pogosyan told Aerospace Diary that as India's domestic traffic showed signs of growth, "we will market (Sukhoi SuperJet100) (that has) attracted interest. We are speaking to GoAir and Air India." "We treat this market as special," Pogosyan said. The  regional jet in the 75- to 95-seat category.

Neelam Mathews Dec 16, 2012 China might purchase 24 Su-35s, an updated version of the fourth generation Su-27, for $1.5 billion, repords scmp. It says the deal was first proposed by Moscow two years ago. The deal "indicates the technological hurdles China faces in developing its own J-20, especially in terms of engine technology, military analysts say," says the publication. Airframers/Suppliers Aviation Daily Dec 21 , 2010 , p. 02 Neelam Mathews Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is in discussions with some of India’s medium- and large-scale corporations for setting up a production facility in India for the Antonov An-148, UAC President Alexei Fyodorov told Aviation Week. He cited inexpensive labor, skilled engineers and good climate as primary reasons for the decision. A partner is likely to be announced in 2011. “We deal with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. in the military area and would like to look at a private industry partner for this venture,” Fyodorov said. The 75-seat aircraft (when in a single-class configuration) would be produced in passenger and cargo versions. It can fly to small cities with poorly equipped airfields with a runway length of 1900 meters.
