Neelam Mathews Nov 5 2015 Dubai Air Show (AIN) In 2013, Boeing placed its first CH-47 Chinook helicopter contract in India with Bangalore-based Dynamatic for aft-pylon and cargo ramp assemblies. India’s aerospace design and manufacturing industry is finally coming home to roost. Boeing (Stand 900) chairman James McNerney echoed confidence in the industry and the new government during a global summit, “India’s Time to Fly,” held in Delhi last month [October] when he announced that Boeing was “much closer to having final assembly [of] Apache or Chinook helicopters here.” McNerney added: “That will play out, and that is our strategy. Companies like Boeing are always on the lookout for competitive advantages that come with innovative new technologies and long-term partnerships.” He said India, with its broad, deep engineering capability and skilled workforce, was a natural partner “that offers us the long-term opportunities…” The statement came on the heels of India finalizi...

Neelam Mathews Dec 13, 2012 Boeing has named Pratyush “Prat” Kumar as president of Boeing India, effective December 14.   Kumar succeeds Dinesh Keskar, who earlier this year returned to Boeing Commercial Airplanes in a senior Sales leadership role.  Kumar was Delhi-based president and CEO, GE Transportation for South Asia. Previously, he  led GE Infrastructure businesses in India, which included Aviation, Transportation, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Water business lines.

Neelam Mathews Oct 10, 2012 Lufthansa Technik AG and GE Aviation have entered into a long-term  cooperation agreement related to material supply, which also extends  to the supply of OEM spare parts, and parts repairs of CF6-80C2 and  CF34 engines operated by Lufthansa Technik's customers.  As part of this agreement, Lufthansa Technik and GE will jointly  develop and utilize each other's component repairs as well as other  support elements for their respective maintenance, repair and  overhaul services. KLM E&M and Lufthansa Technik have agreed to  launch a new joint offer dedicated to component support for Embraer  E-Jet family aircraft (E-170/E-175 and E-190/E-195). The two  companies are currently developing an appropriate business model for  the new product. Initially focusing on component services in a second  step the product could also be enlarged with other services which are  requested by the market.

Barely was the Emirates Airlines order for 50 Boeing 777-300 ER worth about $18 billion at list prices announced, that Boeing was awarded its biggest commercial order for 230 aircraft worth $21.7billion by Indonesian airline Lion Air. The provisional order is made up of 201 next-generation Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and 29 extended range 737s. General Electric has entered an agreement with Indonesia's Garuda Airlines to supply 50 engines for $1.3billion.  Lion Air, Indonesia’s largest privately owned carrier, is on EU’s infamous blacklist of unsafe airlines banned from entering Europe. However, there seems to be no stopping this fast growth airline from expanding.
