N eelam Mathews March 5, 2013 A Chetak helicopter of the Indian Navy has been lost at sea. Chetak 440 had taken off from INS Dega at about 2 PM today on a routine mission in an area about 10 nm (18 km) seaward of Visakhapatnam, with four crew members onboard, said the Indian Navy. Search and Rescue was initiated when the Air Traffic Control lost contact with the helicopter at about 3:30 PM, and the Chetak failed to return to base at the estimated time. Two survivors have since been picked up from the area and brought to the Naval hospital, INHS Kalyani. The Navy has mounted an extensive search in and around the exercise area with ships, helicopters and divers to locate remaining survivors and the wreckage. Assistance of the Port authorities and local fishing community has been sought. An Indian Navy Chetak helicopter crashed in Oct last year while landing at a na val air station in Goa. All three onboard were killed.

Neelam Mathews Nov 10, 2012 Airbus Military Statement Airbus Military was informed at the end of this afternoon of an accident of a C295 aircraft of the Algerian Air Force in the area of Lozere in the South of France which occurred around 15h45 hours this afternoon (Nov 9). The aircraft was on its way from Paris, France, to Algeria. There is no further information available at this stage.It has been confirmed that there were 6 people on board. Airbus Military will send a Go Team to the site of the accident to help clarify the circumstances of this accident. The thoughts of the company and its employees are with those affected by this accident.

Posted by- Neelam Mathews April 2, 2012 Press Statement: ATR regrets to confirm that an ATR 72-201 operated by Russia's carrier UTair was involved in an accident today at around 7.50 am (local time) near Korkovka (in Western Siberia). Flight 120 was operating between Tyumen and Surgut with 39 passengers and 4 crewmembers. The aircraft, registered under VP-BYZ, was MSN (Manufacturing Serial Number) 332, initially delivered from the production line in October 1992. UTair had been operating this aircraft since August 2008. The Russian Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) will lead the investigation and will be the official source of information. According to international regulations, ATR will advise the French Bureau d'Enquêtes et Analyses (BEA), safety investigation authority representing the state of the aircraft manufacturer. At this time, the circumstances of the accident are still to be determined. The ATR 72-201 is a 68- to 74-seat twin turboprop engine aircraft. ...
