Boeing will deliver the
first of the 8 ordered P-8I at noon on Dec.19 to the Indian Navy in the US. The delivery
is ahead of schedule as the first aircraft was scheduled for 2013 and the
remaining seven by 2015, Aerospace Diary
learns. Boeing signed a contract Jan. 1,
2009 India is the first international customer for the P-8, a long-range
anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral
operations. The P-8I is a variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing is
developing for the U.S. Navy.
The second aircraft has yet to complete some mission tests, we hear,and will ready for delivery in 2013.
