The  eleventh Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) C-153 will be commissioned by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, Director General, Indian Coast Guard at Porbandar tomorrow.
The ICGS C-153 to be based at Veraval, is the last in the series of 11 Interceptor Boats built by ABG Shipyard, Surat.
The boat is 30m in length with a 90 ton displacement. The waterjet propelled vessel has an endurance of 500 NM at 25 knots, capable of doing high speed up to 45 knots.
ICG is planning to setup 42 stations and 15 air units at strategic locations along the coastline.
A project that includes a chain of Static Radars along the Indian coastline was recently approved. The aim of setting up this chain is to create fully integrated infrastructure to achieve real time monitoring and surveillance of coastal area from remote locations, says the Coast Guard.
