IAF relief to Quake victims

The Indian Air Force has launched relief operations in quake affected areas in Sikkim since the past two days. IAF has put in service four Mi-17 helicopters which are presently operating from the Air Force Station Baghdogra airfield.
IAF also put into service two C-130Js in the relief operations.
 
Eight sorties of Mi-17 were undertaken today from Baghdogra airfield towards Chungthang, Lachung and Mangang areas of  North Sikkim. Around 10 tons of relief material including medicines were helilifted along with 30 Army personnel. The helicopters were carrying out airdrop of food items at some places. In addition, one AN-32 was received in the midnight with 4 tons of medicines.
