India Aviation was launched today with soon-to-be former Aviation Minister inaugurating the show. While I have no issues with this- think it was a good idea for him not to address the press conference and leave it instead to the real workhorses- Air India's Rohit Nandan and Secy, MoCA,Ashok Lavasa to run the presser. One must confess, more came off it than the ususual hoopla.
Like any breed of politicians, Singh did what is best for himself- listing out all his achievements- additional bilaterals, opening investment to foreign firms, opening airports to private companies (foreign firms) etc- little associated with domestic market initiatives. We do know for instance, the much hyped tier 2 and 3 city airports projects remains a non-starter as do many others, including a civil aviation policy.
Remember the long list MoD sent out listing AK Antony's achievements! Really!?
How insulting is this exercise, one wonders to the rest of the people in the industry who can see through the 'transparency'?
meanwhile, here's to a great India Aviation for those attending it!
