IDSA gets new DG

Arvind Gupta, an officer of the Indian Foreign Service 1979 batch, is the new the Director General, Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis (IDSA).
Before assuming charge as DG, IDSA, he held the Lal Bahadur Shastri Chair in Strategic and Defense Studies at IDSA since March, 2008.
Prior to joining IDSA, Gupta was Joint Secretary at the National Security Council (NSC) Secretariat from 1999 to 2008. During his tenure at the NSCS, he dealt with a wide spectrum of national security issues.
His current interests include the impact of globalisation on India’s security; security, foreign policy and diplomatic challenges before India; energy security, climate change, institutional reform, India’s neighbors, internal security, and technology and security.
