American Airlines is launching this week, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device onboard select flights in First and Business Class.
American is the first U.S. domestic airline to offer a branded tablet onboard its aircraft, giving First and Business customers access to a library of entertainment options in-flight. The customised tablets, which feature a 10.1-inch screen, replace the current personal entertainment devices in American’s First and Business Class cabins on select flights operated by B767-200, B767-300 and domestic B757 aircraft which connect beyond American’s daily nonstop New Delhi-Chicago flight.
“We continue to move forward with our efforts to modernise the travel experience by using the innovative Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to provide in-flight entertainment onboard,” said Rob Friedman, American’s Vice President – Marketing.
During the initial rollout, customers can choose from over 70 films, including 30 new releases, with three titles exclusive to American from Paramount, as well as a variety of television programmes and audio selections.
Additional tablet functionality and content will be rolled out over time, beginning in first quarter 2012 and will include Wi-Fi capability on equipped aircraft, games, eReader publications and more.
