Indian Navy upgrades ATC meteorological equipment

The Indian Navy (IN) has inaugurated the first of nine Integrated Automatic Aviation Meteorological System (IAAMS) installations, mainly using technology from Vaisala, under a contract worth an undisclosed amount.

Indian Naval Station Rajali near Chennai is the launch site, and it will serve as a testbed for future IAAMS deployments as the IN seeks to replace manual meteorological observations with automated real-time measurements with a suite of sensors.
