Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), Male, has now taken its airport lounges a step higher than what high-end travellers expect by opening two business lounges.

The Plaza Premium Lounges are the world's first "Pay-In Lounge" open to all classes of travellers.
"Maldives caters to the high-end travelers as customers, and Maldives one of the revenue generators is traveller experience hence we have to cater to them or risk losing them to other exotic destinations that go beyond the expectations of the traveler," Andrew Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of INIA says.

Plaza will operate two international lounges occupying a total space of 660 sq.m. providing over 176 seats. This includes an exclusive reserved area of 33 seats for First Class passengers. Both lounges are strategically located in the International departure area close to the boarding gates.
At the inauguration ceremony of the new business lounges Minister of Tourism Ms Mariyam Zulfa said: “We are proud that GMR has engaged Maldivian employees with the lounge experience to work under the supervision of Plaza Premium Lounges who are a world class lounge operator with lounges in over 20 countries…. We also believe that, through the creative design of the airport and the modernization of the many areas of the airport it will support the efforts that will help to nourish cultural pride, strengthen artistic expression, and renew traditional values.”

The lounges have fully reclining massage chairs, sleep or snooze pods, manicure and pedicure services, hydrotherapy showers, reflexology treatments and specially designed pre- and post-flight massages and to step up their game, full-fledged spas, private nap rooms, and meals catered by in house chefs.

Business and First class Passengers will have a dedicated check in facility with comfortable seating in the international departure area, where their baggage will be collected and checked in by airport staff.
