New Vice Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral RK Dhowan, AVSM, YSM has taken charge as Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) at the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defense (Navy).

Dhowan has held various key command and staff appointments during his career. The Admiral's operational command appointments have included missile corvette INS Khukri, guided missile destroyers INS Ranjit and INS Delhi and the Eastern Fleet as Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF).

The Admiral's staff assignments have included prestigious appointments such as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at the Headquarters at New Delhi, Commandant of ‘National Defense Academy’ Khadakvasla, Indian Naval Adviser at the High Commission of India, London and Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at Headquarters Western Naval Command (Mumbai).

A Navigation and Direction Specialist, Vice Admiral 'Robin' Dhowan is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy,the Defense Services Staff College and Naval War College, Rhode Island, US.
