Bangalore-based- all-cargo airline, QUIKJET Cargo, says it has approval of  Air Operating Certificate  by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) paving the way for launch of the commercial services. It is not clear when the services will be launched.

QUIKJET Cargo has inducted an ATR72 Freighter aircraft with a Large-Cargo-Door, offering a payload of up to 8000Kg in an all-bulk loading configuration.  The ATR 72F is known to be a versatile aircraft for regional feeder routes with ability to operate from short runways and offering quick turnaround times.
The large cargo door version facilitates the carriage of outsized loads and high-volume shipments. Going forward, the company will augment its fleet with aircraft offering varying payload to provide a regional and national air cargo network Quikjet has been certified for carriage of all classes of dangerous goods and hazardous materials.

While there has been an explosive growth in the number of passenger airlines, the air cargo segment has barely witnessed any activity. Presently, due to the lack of freighter aircraft in the country, the express and cargo industry is largely dependent on the belly space of passenger airlines, which is not conducive for time critical shipments or movement of dangerous goods.

“Our expertise and focus lies in providing much needed airport to airport air cargo connectivity. We are working on differing business models to provide customized and general air cargo solutions to businesses across the country. We plan to begin our operations with one aircraft and will gradually add aircraft to the fleet to have a pan India network,”. Capt. Preetham Phillip, CEO Quikjet Cargo said,

Farnair Switzerland AG, a European cargo airline, has bought a substantial stake in Quickjet Cargo Airlines in which Tata Capital Ltd is one of the key investors.

Quickjet Cargo is also backed by investors including Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd, Infrastructure Development Infrastructure Development Finance Co. Ltd and AFL Pvt. Ltd.

  1. The mission of providing airport to airport air cargo connectivity is one of the benefits we can get from these planes. It's easier access so cargoes will be quicker too.
