Lufthansa Technik revs up in Middle East

Lufthansa Technik  is expanding its activities in the growing aviation market of the Middle East even further with a new company headquartered in Dubai - Lufthansa Technik Middle East Services (LTMES).

In response to the growing regional demand for repairs of nacelle components, Lufthansa Technik Middle East Services is also opening its own service operation The new business will bundle all the Middle East sales and service activities currently pursued by a variety of members of the international Lufthansa Technik Group and establish a repair operation for nacelle components such as fan reversers, inlet cowls and fan cowls.

Also, under a general terms agreement, Emirates and Lufthansa Technik have signed a non-exclusive agreement for a period of five years related to the maintenance of components installed on the Airbus A330/A340 and Boeing 777 fleets operated by Emirates.

"We see this extension of the existing landing gear services provided by Lufthansa Technik as a foundation for new opportunities. This new agreement provides diversified solutions for our expanding maintenance requirements." said, Adel Al Redha, Emirates' Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations.

"Through this new agreement, I am convinced that we can meet Emirates' high quality standards with a product precisely tailored to meet this customer's needs" said Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales Lufthansa Technik.

Since 2005, Lufthansa Technik AG has been supporting the landing gear of 21 Boeing 777 aircraft (200, 200ER and 300) operated by Emirates, and since the beginning of 2011 it has also started to overhaul the center landing gears of the airline's fleet of Airbus 340-300.
