New CVC

Pradeep Kumar India's Defense Secretary is the new Chief Vigilance Commissioner.

CVC is considered an important posting. He will have an under 3-year term as he will turn 65 (the retirement age for a CVC) in September, 2014. Kumar's present tenure ends on July 31.

Kumar is an alumnus of IIT-Delhi.Kumar has served as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, chairman of the NHAI, Additional Secretary, Mines and Minerals, and Resident Commissioner of Haryana in Delhi.
