Religare Flysims, a subsidiary of Religare Aviation Training Academy, has aquired from Montreal-based Mechtronix Systems, a B200 Ascent Turboprop trainer Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD).

The simulator, the first of its type and operational by the end of April 2011, is being  installed at a training facility being set up in Mumbai. “It will enable Flysims to widen its training capabilities and offer multi crew coordination, Instrument Rating and Visual Flight Rating courses,” says a statement.

The FSTD is configured as a twin turboprop with conversion kits to single and multi-engine piston aircraft and will be evaluated by the Indian regulator, Directorate General Civil Aviation (DGCA) for qualification equivalent to JAR FSTD A FNPT II MCC.

“The Mechtronix simulator will help strengthen our position not only in the Indian market but it will also help us make inroads into the international aviation training market, especially the Asian region to begin with.” Says Sandeep Bhatt , Director, Religare Flysims.

“The highly realistic training device will make the transfer of trainees from the trainer to the aircraft more efficient and smoother,”says Mechtronix President HervĂ©.

The Ascent Turboprop Trainer is modeled after the Beech King Air B200 and is able to reconfigure to the C172R and Piper Seneca V. It provides a flight deck environment ideally suited for MCC and IR training, utilizing Synthetic Instrument Display technology to easily reconfigure between aircraft models. The device also offers a high level of visual fidelity through a 180x35° visual display system, says the statement.
